ļ»æWelcome to Grow Forward. This is the podcast for visionaries, entrepreneurs, authors, and creators who want to get unstuck, get focused, and get it done. You want to grow. You want to grow your audience, your skills, your team. You want to grow your influence. This is Hadassah Jacobs, and this is Sarah Staub. We are bringing you strategic solutions to everyday challenges. So, let's get started.
Good morning, Boker Tov! Welcome to Grow. This is a Hadassah Jacobs, your Grow expert, and today we're going to be talking about grow goals. You've heard of smart goals, dumb goals. Every kind goal, there's too many to list. But today I want to talk about grow goals, and the reason I do is because I am the world's worst goal setter.
I have set thousands of goals in my life. I've achieved so few. I don't know if you have an issue with or not. If you don't have an issue with goals, this is still going to be a very fun session for you. If you have a hard time and you struggle to reach goals, or goals go out the window at the beginning of a new year, et cetera.
This is the session for you. You don't want to miss it because we're going to look at goals and it's a whole different idea. Now, first, I want to talk about the word goals. The first two letters are GO, and I have to tell you, go is one of the most important words in your life. Go, go get it. Go get your dreams.
Go out, have fun. Go do the thing that you need to do, but you got to go. If we're looking at Torah examples of Go, one of the things Hashem says to Avram when he's in Er he wakes up one day and Hashem says to him, "Go. You go." Now he has no clue where he is going, but the real issue is that he has a mandate.
Something driving him within Hashem is saying, "listen, I put that in you, now get up, and go. I'll lead you. I'll guide you. I'll get you there, but you got to go." Well, the next two letters in the word goal are A L. Let's add another L to that all. And I can say give it your all. It's all encompassing. That is one little clue that we can't set a goal that is not incorporated into our entire lifestyle because then we'll never reach that goal.
But when you're looking at goals, you're looking some at something that is all encompassing. So, we have go, we have the word all, and then we have the word S, and I think the word, or actually not a word, the letter S. The letter S is super important, and it doesn't stand for smart, although it could, it could stand for any word you want, but we've chosen systems and why systems?
Because if you have a goal of learning how to create the system that works for you in the major categories of your life, which is systems that actually creates one system, your life will exponentially improve, and you will begin to reach goals. So, I want to actually use the word goals as the acronym that brings us to this phrase, all systems go.
I think if we reach for this optimal that on a daily basis, we as individuals, and as a collective, we are all systems go. We're ready to launch. When we start our day, we are ready to launch and we have prepared a system that's going to be the catalyst, everything working together to get the project, get the vision, get the task that we need to accomplish off the ground and on its way to its destiny.
So, I want you to think as of goals right now, grow goals where we'll talk about the word grow in a minute, but I want you to think about goals as all systems go. Now let's talk about the grow part. Growing has a lot of components to it.
There're seeds. There's watering. First, there's soil. You got to put the seeds somewhere. So, there's soil, there's seeds, right? There's synthesis, photo synthesis, right? There's, that's a combination of air, sun, water, and in our lives, it's the combination of things that waters the seeds, that actually even creates the soil of our heart, our mind, our surroundings.
And then there is the process. And then there's the fruit. So, growing takes a lot of different parts, but they all sync, synthesize together, another nice set of S words that we can incorporate into goals. When we look at the first letter of Grow and we look at Grow as an acronym, we want to look at the key words or word that has the highest impact.
And for us here at Olive Tree, it is give. Giving is the key to receiving. Giving is the key to receiving. Those are the first two letters of grow. So, when we talk about giving, we're talking about creating a mindset and a project platform that is going to give your subscribers, your customers, your client base. It is going to give them added value education, and it's going to give them the tools or the outcomes, which is the next letter, o, outcomes that they're looking for.
So, when I'm talking about giving, I'm not talking about financially giving away your house. I'm talking about creating, every single idea, every single project, every single strategy with the concept of giving in a way that your client, your subscriber, is going to receive added value or expected outcomes. In other words, exactly what you said they would receive plus a lot more.
Now, for yourself, since giving is reciprocal, you actually don't even have to focus on what you're going to receive out of it because if you follow a system, you put the structure in and you give, you will receive instantaneously and over the long run, there's a lot of aspects of the receiving part, but the first three letters give, receive, and outcomes.
These right away create a mental framework for how you're going to proceed when approaching every single aspect of the process that is going to create the product that your client, your subscriber, your customer, is going to receive.
Now let's talk about the W, and we're going to come back to some other words with the G R O, but we're going to talk about the W because if you put the first three in motion, you're going to have the outcome of the W. First of all, that is the win. And you're going to win the world. You're going to win your world, and you're going to win the worlds of the people that are part of your world. But also, when you put these three in motion, giving, receiving, outcomes, right, you're going to have to work, and the work that you put in to creating is going to really cultivate your worth.
Now, just not your worth the way you see yourself, but the worth in the way that your influence platform grows, and others perceive you. So, there's a lot going on with that w. There's the work, there's the worth, there's the win, there's the world. Now going back to the G R O part, I want to talk about another aspect of the R.
I don't want to go anywhere else with the G because if you center your mindset of creating, branding, doing, around the word give, you encompass probably everything you need to move forward. But the R on the other hand, receiving that's kind of, it's what's your client's going to receive, but it's also what you're going to receive.
Receiving doesn't have such a broad mindset, revelation here, aha moment. But the R can also be reach. And I actually say record and reach. Now for some of you that may be a little bit outta your comfort zone. But once you start understanding the power of your voice and you start recording it in a podcast, in a video, in an audio file that you can share with what you're writing or typing, you can share quick videos in messaging today. Loom is a great platform for that, but once you learn how to record, you're going to expand your reach. So, record and reach. The other thing is you need to implement into every day and every aspect of your week, your lifestyle, the concept of rest and relaxation.
Now, I'm not saying take a mini vacation every day, but I am saying that you need to rest in what you're doing. You don't need to be anxious. You need to learn in to trust the process. And rest in the doing of it and relax. If you move increments every day, everything's going to be okay. Now let's take a look at it, a couple of other words with the O.
All right, so first of all, what we talked about is outcomes. An outcome is results. Another great R word. Well, outcomes are super important because you really do need to think, "what is the outcome?" I'm reminded of the story with a Michael Phelps where he needed his outcome was going to win his eighth gold medal in the 200 fly. Mark Spitz held the record in having seven gold medals.
It might have been different amount of numbers, but you'll get the point. So, he needed to beat a world record. He needed to win and that was going to be his outcome. Well, there was going to be a lot of factors, not just his training, but also, he wears goggles, his suit, every aspect of his approach to the race needed to be thought through.
But when he jumped in the water, his goggles filled up with water. Now, if you're a swimmer, I was a competitive swimmer. I went to a lot of swim meets and for I would say a good eight, nine years of my life, I was a competitive swimmer. And I can tell you if your goggles fill up with water, you can't see and you are miserable, and you will probably lose. There's, if you focus on the water in your goggles, your race is done. Emotionally you're finished. However, he didn't do that. He had already prepared that in case that happened, he counted his strokes. He knew exactly in that pool how many strokes it was to the wall, the flip, back to the next wall, the flip, back to the next wall, the flip and home. And he won the race. He took the gold regardless of the state of his goggles.
So, this, when we take a look at outcomes, once we know what we want, then we can think through not only the process, but the obstacles. Another great o word, obstacles are not your enemy, they are your friend. Obstacles are what help you to be able to create a thinking process that embraces the good, the bad, and the ugly. And that is vital to success.
So now let's take a look at those other words, and that is Outlook. And so, when we take, when we actually have an outlook that embraces everything and spins it, and I do mean spins it, you know, if you have an outlook that looks at obstacles in a negative way, then you are probably going to be a pretty negative person.
Why? Because that's what you're going to focus on. But if you look at obstacles as challenges that will strengthen you in a positive way, then your whole life is going to have a different lens, and you are going to understand the power, not just a positivity, but the power of the embrace of the whole of a project.
Then, I thought about outsourcing. When you're creating a project and you're trying to do it all yourself, I highly recommend outsourcing. And we're going to be talking about that in different episode. But outsourcing is a real win-win for you, and we're going to show you how to do it and how to incorporate it into creating that all systems goal, goal system.
Whoa, that's a mouthful, isn't it? Okay. And then the overview and the own it. And so, every day when we're looking, checking in on what we need to do that day, we're planning, we're preparing in the morning. We need to not just write down the incremental task or needle mover that we need for our projects that day.
And that of course, if you don't have our Blockit planner you want to make sure you get that because we teach you how to do that in our Blockit planner. So, when we're talking about the overview, and that is the daily planning process, overviewing what we did the day before, you can do that at night or in the morning and then, creating the plan for the day incrementally, by the way, the most important thing you can do, is to own it. I mean, take responsibility for what you are putting on paper, on your computer, on your whatever planning tool you use. Now, we highly recommend our Blockit Planner, and that is available there is a link to it below this podcast. So, the Blockit planner is a key to really learning how to focus and move forward quick. However, you can't move forward unless you own your thoughts.
You got to take responsibility for your actions. You have to own what you're putting on paper. So often we write it all down and we go and do something completely different. Now, I'm not going to say that distractions don't pop in and out of our day. People have demands on us et cetera, et cetera.
But I don't know how many times in my life I have written down what I'm going to do today. Somebody calls me and says, "Hey, let's go to the zoo." And I don't say, "well, I already have my day planned out. I'm like, let's go to the zoo." My way of literally procrastinating the day. Well, that is not owning your day. That is letting someone else own your day.
And so, learning how to balance that, that's something I talk about in our calendar program. But let me tell you something, learning to own the tasks, the needle movers, whatever you want to call them. It's going to move your all systems Go Goals forward, the grow goals, okay, moving your grow goals forward, that is something that really has to be honed. It has to be embraced. Youā€™ve got to own it.
So again, we think, we've already gone through all of the Ws, right? The work, worth, win, world, and the win. Now, I know in today's society, people want to minimize competition. They want to minimize wins. They really do. They don't want to feel like they're outperforming anyone else.
I'm going to tell you something. When you get to the finish line of your life, they're not going to be there. You're going to be there, and you're going to look back on your life and you're going to see all the people who kept you from reaching your grow goals, from reaching your potential. And you are going to really carry a very heavy burden of why didn't I do it different?
And so, the truth is, if you're a wife, a husband, family member, you want to create grow goals where you're all going to grow together. You want to take your projects, talk 'em over with your husband, talk 'em over with your wife and say, "Hey, these are the goals that I want to achieve." And do it together. If you're single, you still, you want to put your goals out there, and you want to take your friends along with you.
But apart from good advice, really advice that is going to help you move forward in life, you want to reject every voice that is going to hold you back because you were created for a purpose. And you are full of potential. No matter how old you are, no matter where you are, what stage of your life, you can grow.
So, I hope these grow goals, this idea of how to shape your goals was helpful today. And it really, and you might say to say, wow, you didn't give me any specifics like A, B, C, D. No. It's like dieting. You know, I can come up with a diet cookbook and say, if you follow A, B, C, D, you're going to crush it.
You're going to lose a hundred pounds in three months, and at the end of three months, you're going to throw that book onto a bookshelf and more than likely go back to eating the way you were because you reached your goal and there's nothing to move you forward from there. Because you didn't change your mindset.
You didn't literally create that plan that was in this cookbook or weight loss book into your overall life. Now some people do, but the majority don't. They gain everything back and more, and this is true with goals. The majority of all structured goal programs, planners, et cetera, do not help you reach a goal or win the day.
In fact, they do the exact opposite because when you procrastinate and when you are not staying on the path of keeping your goal, you feel guilty, you have shame, and before you know it, you've been able to really kind of, avoid that goal in the process, and it's out of sight, out of mind. You didn't create the mindset or the lifestyle that was going to serve you and your goals, and that's what we're talking about when we're talking about grow goals.
We're talking about creating a mindset and habits that are going to serve you to such a degree that your goals, the things you're dreaming about automatically happen. Well, they don't really ever automatically happen, but you're putting the process, the system in motion. So, they can't do anything but happen.
They will happen because it is part of the process. You cannot plant a garden and not get fruit. Now things can happen. It can be destroyed in the process, and you have to start all over through natural sources, right? You know, from rain and wind and snow and drought and, natural phenomena.
You it, you got to start all over. But when you go through the process, you're going to get fruit. And that's why you want to live a grow forward life and you want to create grow goals. You want to give, you want to make sure that your subscriber, your customer, your client receives intended expected outcomes.
You also want to give in a way that you are going to receive your expected outcomes. You want to record and reach your audience. You want to learn how to rest and relax in the process. You want to learn how to have a proper outlook and outsource. You want to learn how to take a look at your plan and overview it and then own it.
You want to win the day, win the world, and create the kind of work in your life that builds your value and worth in the eyes of your, actually, I want to say your subscribers, your audience, but really in those who are really peeking into your influence platform. So, you want to create these grow goals in such a way that every morning, you say, all systems go.
